We’re on the sixth day of National Novel Writing Month 2022, and I’ve only just caught up to 10k words. It’s definitely been a struggle to write almost 2k words every day. Most days, I’m exhausted from work. This past week, I had to take a day off for some self-care. I take small victories where I can take them. If I manage to write 500 words or a thousand then, I’m proud of myself for it. Stressing about NaNoWriMo this month won’t do me any good.
Luckily, I got the day off tomorrow, and on Thursday, I’m visiting NASA, so, I’m looking forward to a relaxing week.
It’s almost that time of year again and I don’t think I’m ready for it.
To be honest, I don’t remember the last time I participated in NaNoWriMo but I do want to participate this year. I think I’ve gotten better at time management. Saying that, I’m not sure what I’m writing just yet. There’s been a few ideas bouncing around in my head lately, but I also have two projects that I’m currently working on. Adding a third project into the mix might be a little too much for me.
The goal is to write 50,000 words in thirty days. Technically, it doesn’t have to be towards one projects specifically so maybe I can distribute those 50k words between projects? It’s definitely taking liberty with the spirit of things but it would definitely make me write more than I already do.
We have 8 more days until the event starts. Who knows? Maybe I’ll end up finish a one project before the start of November.
As part of Wattpad’s Creators Program, I made an account on Instagram to help build an audience. I’ve managed to post some content but in reality social media is tough. Once I’ve gotten a bit more comfortable with the platform, I might do more with it. For now, I’m experimenting with the kind of content I want to post.
I know it’s important to have social media as an author and I need to be better about it. To be honest, I might need to dedicate time out of my schedule to post something about my progress. While blog posts help, I’m not too consistent with it, but I’m trying to do better now.
Let’s Keep on Chugging
All that’s left for me to do is keep on chugging. I’ll somehow manage to figure it out. Most importantly, I can’t lose track of my goal for this year: send out query letters before Christmas break. While I don’t have much time left, I believe I can do it.
Now that we’re in October, I can finally reveal the good news. This was supposed to be done last weekend, but I didn’t get the media assets until this week.
I’m excited to be part of Wattpad’s Creators Program.
In general, nothing big has changed. I’m writing whenever I get the chance. I’ve made some progress in preparing for National Novel Writing Month and writing my current novel on Wattpad.
I started my journey on Instagram. It’s a little slow, but I’ll post content for NaNoWriMo and my stories on Wattpad. I want to promote them, so maybe they’ll get considered/ get picked up by agencies. It’s a long shot, but I think it’s worth trying.
It’s definitely been a few weeks since I posted any updates. Overall, I think I’ve adjusted to the new school year. A few students withdrew so it makes it easier. I’m not as stressed anymore and I find myself crocheting and writing more so that’s always a bonus.
On the writing side, as I might have mentioned before, I am no longer seeking to publish my Wattpad story at the moment due to some exciting news coming in October (keep your eyes peeled). So, for now, it stays on the platform.
Since my Wattpad story is out of the picture, I’m working on another story that I’m getting ready to send out. I’ve sent this story out before – a long time ago – I think I’m ready to try again. However, I’ve made some manages to the story and how I wrote it. I’m hoping I’ll finish it by the end of October.
I’m well aware Nation Novel Writing Month is coming up, but I’ll make a different post about it later. For right now, I’m not sure if I’ll participate. I am working on world-building for a novel I’m planning on writing, but it’s still too early to tell.
Here’s hoping I’ll be a bit more consistent on the updates. Until then, take care.
I survived two weeks of school. All things considered, I’m not as stressed as I was the week before and even last year. However, I’m tired all the time. The transition from summer break to working full time is rough, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.
Sadly, I barely managed to write anything these past two weeks. I’m not very proud of that, but I’m making a conscious effort to write at least a few words a day.
I did get good news from Wattpad. I can’t say anything more until it’s official, but I think it will be good for me and my writing. That being said, the story in question is one I wanted to publish with an agent, but I might not be able to. I need to look into that a bit more. Either way, I have another story I can polish up and send out.
It might take me a bit longer to become a published author, but I’m excited about the opportunity. Besides, making writing a career is a marathon, not a sprint.
