Of Research and Progression

It’s been a hectic but productive week. In the midst of moving, I have managed to get some writing and homework done. I call that productive.

Other than the boiling heat in Houston, it’s being going well. I manged to get a post published on Monday. Wednesday’s post wasn’t the greatest but I thought it was an interesting brain teaser.

This week I found an interesting blog called Query Shark. From what I have seen so far, after some regulations, people can have their query critiqued. I’ve seen many examples and comments on query letters. While I haven’t exactly gone in there and really looked around, I’m liking what I’m seeing.

I definitely need to go back to my query letter and take a look at it again. I think it woukd be safe to say that I’m having condensing all the summary. I’ve taken a look at a lot of summaries and urbs but I can’t seem to get a hang of it. I do got my one sentence summary though.

Here’s to more research and revision.

Doing Better

The weekend is here but there’s no time to waste. With going through thr certification program, my time has been eaten up by watching observational videos, homework, and work. At this point, it feels like all I do is homework.

Good news – or maybe mix news – I’ll be moving into a new place soon. Managing everything is going to be difficult but I think I have it handled.

Wven though I’m not writing as much as I want to, I am writing. Weekly chapters still go up on wattpad every Sunday. I’m staying on top of my writing prompts and Friday posts. Monday has been bleh. I need to do better. I will do better.

In general, I’m getting a couple of sentences down in my novel. Little by little, those sentences pile up and I have been making progress. For now, that’s all I can do.

Finding the Middle

Another week comes to an end. Progress has been slow but there has been progress. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a post Monday. I got caught up with errands and school work. I promised myself I’ll do better.

I did go back and take a look at Crimson Queen, the story I worked on for Camp NaNoWriMo. Reading through, I realized that the beginning worked. The middle on the other hand didn’t. There was no direction. So, I went back through it and wrote down the main plot points that I found. There was a couple of them but they were just buried under unnecessary scenes/ words.

Moving forward, I need to fill in the blanks to get from one point to another. That “filling” has to be relevant to the story and has to contribute. Otherwise, the words become unnecessary and I don’t want that. Plus, I have the information, the filling if you will, I just have to find a way to add everything together.

With school going on now, I have to steal time to write until I get a schedule down. It’s going slower than I would like to. For sure this upcoming week, there’s going to be a post Monday. Wednesday is still writing prompt day. I’m having really fun with those prompts. They’re different but I need a way to get out of my comfort zone. I need to write something I wouldn’t normally write. Is there a website for random writing prompts? I definitely have to look for that.

If anyone has any suggest, send a message/ comment and I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for reading.

Exhaustion -A ‘Poem’

Exhaustion isn’t the word I’d use to describe how I feel.

It’s the feeling of no energy.

Of being drained.

Of the weight on my eyelids and

The pressure build at the front most part of my brain.

It’s the knowledge that I can’t rest

Until I get more homework done.

It’s the combined efforts of a long week

And not enough time for everything.

It’s the unfocused part of my brain and

The refusal of my eyes to remain open.

It’s the knowledge that I won’t be home until 1am.

It’s the obligation, commitment, and responsibility all wrapped in one.

I’m Exhausted.

A New Schedule

It’s the start of a new month and that means Camp NaNoWriMo has ended for the moment. Yours truly was able to reach 50k words. While I didn’t exactly finish writing the entire story, the plot did move to the third act where a lot of reveals and betrayals happen. I call it the more exciting part of this story in particular.

Saying, I won’t go back and look at what I wrote. Instead, I’ll keep writing at my own space towards the finish. Sue to the original draft, I have a lot of it already prepared. For the most part, the last section of the story has been written and set in stone. Some of the events might change but the results will be the same.

New stuff is starting this month. Not only did I start school again (well it’s a certification program), I also plan to post 3x a week. It’s a lot that I’m putting on my plate but I think I can manage.

Mondays, I plan to post some helpful tips on world building, helpful websites, among other stuff. Wednesdays will be for writing prompts. The post won’t be super long. The purpose for this is to get me to write different sort of scenarios and genres. It will be a good learning experience. Lastly, Fridays will stay the same. The posts will mostly be about progress, exciting news, etc.

I will start the new schedule the following week. It’s going to be tough starting it out but I’ll manage to do it.

For those who finished all 50k words for Camp NaNoWriMo, congratulations! For those who didn’t, congratulations as well! Taking the time and effort says a lot about you. For that I applaud you.
