2019 Resolutions

It’s a start of new year and for some (or most) it’s a clean slate. As for me and the plans I have, that hasn’t changed. If anything, they’ve been slightly altered.

A new change that I have to focus on is getting my teacher certification and all the steps that must come first to get there. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. It’s something new and mysterious but I think I’m ready for it. I don’t know what the future will bring, hopefully, it’s good stuff, and luckily, I am support by a lot of people that care about me.

Second, I have to plan a wedding. -.- It just so happens to be mine (yaye). That, in its own, speaks for itself. Don’t really have a date yet since the venue kind if dictates that. Got most of the guest list and I’ve been looking at venues and found a few. To be frank, there doesn’t seem to be enough time for everything but I’ll make it work, somehow.

The goals for my writing will remain the same. At the end of the year, it took the back burner but I did accomplish one goal and that was to finish writing the story I don’t like (the Vampire Prince goes to High School) on wattpad. I’m very proud of that mostly because my fans helped me get through it.

There are other novels I need to work on and I’ve revisited a few older ones. Have you ever felt like it wasn’t time for that story to get written? Or mayne your skills and execution of such story wasn’t there? I believe that’s what happened to me and now, I think I’m ready.

I’m eager to start the new year. Hears hoping is better than last.

A Good Feeling

It’s the seventh day of Nation Novel Writing Month and I have to say that, so far, I’m on schedule. There have been a few days where I wait until the last minute to type, underestimating how many hours is going to take me to get 1,667 words that day. 1.6k words doesn’t seem like a lot words but, trust me, when you’re sitting at your computer or sometimes on your phone, it is a lot. You type up three paragraphs and whole page even and then you check the word count. Not even close.

I’ve found that music tends to help me sometimes but that’s not always the case. There are times when I can’t have music on because I’m at work or it’s just not possible. Personally, I like to think of what I’m going to write during the day before I actually sit down and write. It’s more like day dreaming than anything.

With this method, I sort of play through the scenes of my head so I can have an idea of what’s going to happen in the story. There are times when I just sit down, read what I wrote before, and write because I need to finish the scene or I automatically know what’s going to happen next.

Thanks to this, I have finally finished the original story. Now, I can focus on the rewrite. Maybe I mentioned it before, but in case that I haven’t, I’ll say that I know where I want to go with the story. I know what needs to be changed in the rewrite. While I will use almost the same scenes and characters, I will be changing things up a bit. I have a good feeling about this month.

Happy Halloween

Most years, I would be going out and dressing up for Halloween. Tonight, is going to be a little different. This time, because of the weather (Thanks Houston) and other reasons, I’ll be staying home (I think). My friends and I are (hopefully) rolling characters for a tabletop game. For now, I won’t disclose those details.

I also plan on finishing up some last minute preparations for NaNoWriMo. I’ll have to make a daily planner so I can divide my day up in order to get my word count done for the day. I’ve learned that Novlr is free this November due to NaNoWriMo. I’ve used this website before in 2016. It’s a basically a writing tool with it’s own word tracker and you can have story chapters as well. The trial extends for the entire month of November. Afterwards, there is a monthly fee if you want to keep using it.

I enjoyed the fact that the website shows you the word count and basically keeps track of when you do the most writing. That year, I worked better in the evening and it still holds true. I’m still not sure if I’ll use Novlr again but I’m keeping my options open.

Last but not least,

Happy Halloween!
